The practice began in 1990 under the name Rick N. Lathan Architect in Homewood, Alabama.
Lathan Associates Architects Formed
Lathan Associates Architects, P.C. is formed specializing in K-12 education, higher education, and municipal clients.
Strategic Investment
In December 2024, Hidden Harbor Capital Partners made a strategic investment in Lathan Architects. Rick Lathan and the partners remained invested and active in the company.
Walter McKee Opens for Business
Walter McKee opens a small office in Montgomery, AL and begins his career in architecture.
McKee & Associates Formed
McKee & Associates, formed in 1991 with an eye on expansion and larger projects.
McKee & Associates Acquired
Acquisition and Merger (2025): In April 2025, Lathan Architects made an investment in McKee & Associates Architects – Lathan McKee Architects created.
