His architectural practice began in 1990 under the name Rick N. Lathan Architect in Homewood, Alabama.
Lathan Associates Architects Formed
Lathan Associates Architects, P.C. was formed. The full-service design firm specialized in educational architecture and is renowned for long-term client relationships and integrity.
Strategic Investment
In December 2024, Hidden Harbor Capital Partners made a strategic investment in Lathan Associates Architects. Rick Lathan and the partners remain invested and active in the company.
Walter McKee Started Career
Walter McKee started his architectural career in Montgomery, Alabama.
Walter McKee Opened for Business
Walter McKee opened his architectural firm in Montgomery. Over the next 17 years, he developed a highly successful architectural firm, with a variety of clientele in the public and private sector.
McKee & Associates Formed
McKee & Associates was formed and grew into a top five firm in the state of Alabama. The firm is known as a leading educational architect with experience in other areas as well.
McKee & Associates Acquired
In April 2025, Lathan Architects made an investment in McKee & Associates. The two firms merged together to become Lathan McKee Architects with offices in Hoover, Montgomery, and Daphne, Alabama.
